Travel the World with Fel and Wes

The main reason we started Feather and the Wind in 2015 was because we wanted to help other travellers. We were backpacking through Europe and Mexico and really wanted to create an outlet to share travel advice and inspiration with others.

Four continents, 20+ countries and hundreds of edits later, Feather and the Wind has evolved into a partnership, online resource and community of travellers from around the world.

I was born in Vancouver, Canada and am the youngest of three siblings. My dad was born in Hungary and my mom is part Danish and part British. Growing up I had no idea I'd end up spending so much time in Europe, where all my grandparents were born. In 2013, I took a last-minute job interview in Edmonton and ended up moving there to work. That's when I met Fel.

Before I started travelling, I didn't think I really had any skills besides driving a concrete mixer truck. Fel was always reading travel blogs and even bought a camera for our first trip but I didn't feel as passionate as she did. We backpacked through Europe and then all over Mexico for 6 months. I managed to learned Spanish but I still felt lost.

It wasn't until I edited our first video that I felt like I had found a passion for something. I started following the best filmmakers, trying out different techniques and setting goals to edit something every day. I've made hundreds of videos since that Mexico trip and joke that the camera is an extension of my arm. I've worked hard every day to improve my videography and editing skills and hope to inspire others to create what they love. These days it doesn't matter if you went to school for it or not, it's never too late to learn a new skill and design your own life.

I was born in Toronto, Canada and grew up in a very close-knit Italian/Mexican family. I loved the photography courses I took in high school but decided to go to university for Business Management at Ryerson instead. I was learning depreciation methods in accounting when I would have rather been developing in a dark room. And this whole do-what-you're-good-at-not-what-you-love thing went on for years.

At 25, I was Canada's first Finance Management Trainee with Starwood Hotels & Resorts. I moved more than 3,000 kms away from all my friends and family to Edmonton so that I could to start a finance career in the hospitality industry. Everything changed for me in Edmonton. I met Wes there. I came to terms with the fact that I may never be happy as an accountant. I stopped drooling over people's travel photos and started planning for this blog. We saved every penny, quit our jobs and set off in 2015 on the first of many adventures.

More than anything, I hope this little corner of the internet inspires others to do more of what makes them happy and to consider travelling to places off the beaten path (as clichรฉ as that sounds, it's true). With each post I write, my goal is to help whoever is reading it in some way. I want you to take the right colectivo in Mexico, fall for cities you can't pronounce in Poland and even consider travelling to work for free.

I have a fear of flying and didn't tell Fel until after our first flight together.

Europe introduced me to mineral water and now I drink it everyday.

I like to play video games and bring my PS4 with me wherever I go.

If I could have any superpower it would be to speak and understand every language in the world.

A semester abroad in Australia during university is what really sparked my love of travel.

I am absolutely not a morning person and can fall asleep almost anywhere.
